Great Job! I enjoyed your drawings coming to life….thank you.
I appreciate your thoughts on profanity. My friends and I had just been discussing how common place the use of these words has become. I find it ridiculous and inappropriate and have quoted your salutation ” You can either contribute to the dullness, or shock it with your color and your charm” multiple times since first reading it. I am glad you have returned to the Bistro and continue to pray that your employment search is productive and successful. Top of the morning to you Sir.
One more thought regarding income…. Your sayings and drawings are quite enjoyable, have you considered producing a line of cards, t-shirts, posters, etc… Perhaps it’s time for the Bistro to acquire a gift shop? (selling on Etsy and ebay are also possible options)
I was just thinking I hadn’t heard from you for a while, my dear.
I’ve thought about merchandise, and have even sent a number of postcard, but still want to improve upon them a bit.
I wonder how one would become a travel industry writer. (Brochures, pamphlets, magazine articles… how about something for those travel guide booklets hiding in the pockets of airplane seats..) Do you just submit things and hope for the best? And where do you submit your work? Department of tourism or Chamber of Commerce associated with the location you are writing about? I know I am rambling but this inquiring mind wants to know. I was watching House Hunters International (love HGTV) and wondering how people can have enough money to travel and buy houses all over the world? A lot of them are able to work via computer from anywhere in the world and they have these ungodly huge budgets (lucky souls). The other night I was watching and the home buyer was a travel writer. (Thus the point of this post) That would be ideal for you! (Just wish I knew how to “get your foot in the door”, so to speak, in this industry.. It would be an ideal job for me also as I share your passion to write and travel…. Ahhhhh to dream…. On another note, the merchandising we previously spoke of would also be something you could do “from anywhere”. And don’t limit yourself to prints… Sculpting wode toad, Pierce and Mousy (etc) would be fun. Get some sculpy (oven baked clay) and have some fun! You would be amazed at the incredibly unattractive items people will buy! I’m not saying yours would be unattractive, simply saying some people will buy anything! (and hey, even if you only make a few dollars on some items, it is definitely a start and definitely better than no dollars at all!)
Today’s post has my sculpy model of Wode on a dragon in the Forbidden City.
